October 31, 2007 - "2007/2008 Training Pool"

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

This has been the slowest start to any of our seasons due to warmer temps.  It's Halloween and we have just broke the 50 mile mark.  Looks like cool temps are here to stay now, thank goodness!  We have 14 dogs in training this year, with 12 that will race during one weekend.

Let us introduce you to our 2007/2008 team members:

NorthWapiti's Skor - The number one leader and overall dog in the kennel last winter.  We are sure he will be at the front of our teams this winter.

Kelim's Super Dodge, SD, CGC
- Skor's half brother and the smartest command leader, we are sure he will also be a leader.  He is a big part of the team no matter where he runs.

NorthWapiti's Lincoln At Kelim, SD - Not a leader for us anymore, although he lead our team for the first 3 years of his career. Linc is an automatic dog on our fastest race team.  He's always a super solid, speedy team dog.

Kelim-Tsuga's Quest - Quest lead one race for us last season and did well.  This year he is getting even more leader training.  A hard driving, hard working dog.

Kelim-Thesewoods Tracker - One of our top leaders (along with Skor & Dodge).  He's fast, focused and a great leader.  We hope his past health issue of seeming to get low blood sugar (still doing tests) could keep him off the team if it's a reoccurring issue - we certainly hope not though!!  A super dog in harness.

Kelim's Dodge Viper - The star of the yearlings last year, this boy is a die hard team dog who never seems to tire.  Not a lead dog, but a great team dog.

NorthWapiti's Rainy - Rainy got a late start to the season due to having a litter of  7 very nice pups with NorthWapiti's Q.  You wouldn't know it by her recent performances in harness though, she hasn't seemed to miss a beat and she is doing awesome!  We expect her to do a lot of leading this season.

NorthWapiti's Myst At Kelim - Myst also took time off to raise a litter for Jaye Foucher of Sibersong Siberians.  She seems happy to be back in harness and is ready to go!  We are looking forward to seeing what another year of maturity does for her.  She will also get quite a bit of leader training.

Kazlo's Stryder of Kelim - Stryder is really showing his maturity so far this season.  A very powerful team dog who has a fast trot and lots of potential!

Kazlo's Flyin' Flutie - Of all the Dodge kids, Flutie is the only one who shows lead potential.  Like his brother he is a powerful dog with lots of drive.

Kelim's Mollywood of Tsuga - Molly is a new team member this season, but she isn't new to racing.  Last year lead 100 miles and finished on Sue Ellis' Can-Am 250 team.  She has been doing great so far and is really a clone of her brother in many respects.  Another leader we will be training this winter.

Kelim's Swift - Skor's first offspring to join our team, this girl shows so much potential like her dad.  She is quite possibly the best yearling we have ever hooked up.  She's fast, has a wonderful stride and works very hard.  If she is any indication of what Skor is going to produce for pups in harness, he will be siring more litters for sure!!

NorthWapiti's Bongo - Bongo is our newest addition and has only been in harness with us once.  We hope the more time she gets in harness the more she will mature.  Time will tell if she races with us this winter!  She sure has the most energy of any dog we have ever met!

Tsuga's HollyWood of Kelim - The old lady of the team, Holly turns 9 yrs old next month.  You would never know it by watching her run though!  Although she won't race with us, she still does great with the slower ATV runs.  She doesn't want to retire quite yet, and we are happy about that!
