Monday, September 25th

Monday morning Tara woke up before me and went in to take a shower.  I told her I would be in soon.  The cabin has a bolt lock on the inside and outside of the door.  I grabbed my clothes and went to leave the cabin but when I went to open the door it did not open.  Tara had locked me in from the outside!  I figured it wouldn't be long that she would come to let me out.  After about 15 minutes I started to think of ways out of the cabin as I really had to pee!!  I checked the windows but they didn't open.  Then I remembered I had Karen and Marks phone number in my suit case so I grabbed my cell phone and tried to call the house.  I knew they were going to get a good kick out of this!  I dialed the number but it was restricted area.  So I called my house in New Hampshire hoping I would get a signal.  My mom answered the phone and I told her to email Tara as every morning Tara checked her email.  I told my mom to write her and tell her to let me out of the cabin.  Within 10 minutes I heard Tara coming towards the cabin laughing.  Ok, so it was pretty funny!!  LOL!  Karen and Mark both laughing in the house and Karen said "What did you do, call home?"  Once we stopped laughing it was time for breakfast.  Today was a day to pack up and get ready for the trip home.  This included a trip to the vets to get health certificates on Tara's new pup Sukih, Gail's new puppy Billie and Rob & Louise Cooke's new pup Banjo.  They didn't make a peep going to the vet, what good kids!  That night I was a little sad I was leaving tomorrow.  I had such a wonderful time with so many great memories and what an incredible experience it was running an Iditarod team with Karen!!  She's truly an amazing person with a big heart.

Tuesday we left the house at 6am.  We had to be at the airport by 8am so Billie and Banjo could make their flight to their new homes.  We had some time to kill since our flight didn't leave until 1pm so we went to Starbucks, the book store, Petco and to the park to walk Sukih.  Once we got to the airport we said our good byes and Tara and I left for home.  Overall it was an incredible trip!!  One I will always remember.  Thank you so much Mark and Karen for your wonder hospitality, great company, excellent food and letting me have the privilege of running your dogs for a few days.
