Sunday Morning, September 23rd

Sunday we did a shorter run in the morning as that night we were going camping.  Runner and Moses did great!   I was excited to run Q as he's the sire of our "Harry Potter" litter.  I'm sure glad we bred to him!  He's a nicely built, handsome boy who runs great. We had a nice run through farm fields, Crunchie and Watt did well navigating the open terrain.   We even saw a big coyote run through the field and right in front of Karen's team. When we got back we had lunch and named the Candy litter.  They are just so cute!!  My favorite is Chicklet.

Sunday Night, September 24th

That night we fed dogs early and then ate dinner ourselves.  We were going to do a night run and camp out for a while then run back home.  Mark helped us hook up and off we went.  It was a beautiful view as we ran down the highway ditches and down public dirt roads.  As we turned out of the ditch and onto a dirt road 3 huge deer came bounding through the field and all 3 ran right in front of Karen's leaders, Kara and Spidey.  The dogs got excited but stayed on the trail.   Hilda and Holly did a wonderful job staying gee over on the roads.  We passed a few
horses, cattle and house dogs.  The NW crew did a great job staying on the trail and ignoring the distractions.  It was getting rather cold and I was so happy to have hand warmers on Mark's ATV!  Mark sure did a nice job rigging up the ATV with so many nice accessories!  It made for a very enjoyable run in the cold.  Once we got to the camping area we souped the dogs and tied the leaders down so they couldn't visit the boys.  We then made a camp fire.  The fire was slow to start so I took some tissues they burned well!  I'm proud to say I was the best at sawing fire wood for the fire:)  We found some nice hot dog sticks and roasted some dogs and had some hot chocolate.  Boy did that hit the spot on a cold night!  We shared some wonderful stories and had lots of laughs.  My team had settled down nicely and all were napping like veterans... well all were veterans except for Bingo.  Karen's team on the other hand were making a fuss and wanted to get
going!  Fritz, Nitro and Irving were screaming to go for almost 2 hrs straight.  Finally they settled down the last hour we were there.  There was a coyote who was yipping and carrying on right next to Karen's team.  The dogs didn't bat an ear at it.  As we were sitting there Karen pointed out some northern lights above us.  How cool it was to see green dancing lights in the sky!  I wish I had my camera out!  After 3 hours we packed up and ran 5 miles back to the kennel.  We got back around midnight and it was a cold 18 degrees!  The ATV was covered in frost and the snaps were frozen from running through the river.  What an awesome night it was!!!  I will never forget it!
