March 8th, 2006 - "One Race & Some Big Changes"

We had our one race this year - we ran the 6 dog Sportsman Class at NESDC's Tamworth race.  I started first Sun in a class of 8 teams, 5 Siberian teams and 3 Alaskan/Hound teams.  I ran Dodge & Linc up front... Dodge our reliable brain, and Linc our speed pusher.  We did the 7.5 mile course in 29:37! Wahoo!  My dogs were fabulous despite warmer temps, and they were inspiring to watch and literally ran up all the hills.  Sunday we started last (NESDC inverted the field) and this time I tried Tracker up front with Dodge - not that Linc didn't do a good job the day before, he was superb, it's just he has a passing issues... when he passes a team (particularly one he knows) he slows down.  So I figured today was as good as any to see what Tracker could do up front.  Tracker was fabulous!  We caught and passed all the other teams just as we got back onto the lake.

What a great team and a fun race :)  Glad we could get one race off this season!

We have some other big changes going on in the kennel, we both want solid competitive teams to race, and with a kennel limit of 14 we want at least 12 super solid dogs in both attitude and speed.  The following dogs have found less competitive racing homes or a home that matches them better than we do:

Sahara

Sahara is going to live with Ann Conser in Kansas and will hopefully finish her Championship and be a leader on her husbands 4 dog race team.

Darka

Darka lives with her co-owner/breeder Whaleigh Torsey of Barking Brook Siberians.

Storm

Storm is going to live with Scott & Linda Isabelle this summer, hopefully after he finishes his Championship.  Scot is hoping he will be a main leader for them with his son, Blizzard!

Buzz

Buzz now lives with Anne Melrose of  SnowStorm Siberians in Ontario Canada.

Godzilla

Zilla  went to live with Tara Lemieux of Kazlo Siberians in ME - hopefully he will add some experience to her team and a good outcross pedigree to her kennel.

Glass

Glass went to live with Tara Lemieux of Kazlo Siberians in ME - hopefully she will add some experience to her team and a good outcross pedigree to her kennel.

We have 4 open spots in our yard now and are carefully deciding what dogs will fill those spots.  Stay tuned this summer to see 'who' pops up!
