"XESXES"
-- (DOB: 12/27/05)
A timid
fellow with the piercing eyes of a wild
counterpart, Xeses' athleticism is a
serious work of art. At first I thought he
was just a goof, seemingly walking through
life with "no clue", jack-rabbitting around
at will and still with a tight tug line.
After several runs in harness in teams of 5
to 6 dogs I wasn't impressed. He at times
exuded rank speed with no attention span to
keep it going. Finally I put him with an
adult team of 8, who once they knew the
venue could really rock-n-roll. Cautious in
arriving at early assessments, males for us
sometimes have taken 3 years in the making
of a good dog, Xeses with the adult group
traveled with such grace and ease it soon
became apparent, after a few runs, his speed
ability wasn't being tapped. With the adult
group on a rock-n-roll run of 6 miles I was
floored seeing Xeses trot. Now, that could
have been stress, mental or physical, don't
know but suffice to say I dismissed the
stress angle of rationale as when we hooked
up 2 more dogs, the pace faster, it became
clear that our challenge could be to garner
enough speed to keep this dog,------------ rollin'
-- lopin'.
