Ant is a
quint-essential happy lark in his
own world. A 45-47 lb. male that as
a pup free running behind the
wheeler would and could easily leave
his littermates in the dust and
always when I ratcheted up the speed
he was right there. The only
limiting factor was for me to be
able to negotiate corners. He was
never stressed and never came in
with lungs heaving, however, on the
sled, in his first season, those
same attributes we saw earlier are
not what we see on the sled. We
suspect it is a maturity thing and a
gross judgement of a dog like this
at this age would frankly be stupid.
This is one dog that may be outside
of the early analysis box. Recent
longer runs are indicating this to
be true although the jury is still
out to lunch. A pup looking this
good with a performance signature
written all over him, we just have
to see him through. And, for the
record, both Ant and Acorn, as
genetically represented on their
sire's side, are what we think of as
being better bred in our group of
dogs.
