About Fen ...
Fen came to us as a nine week old puppy from Rob Farley of October's Siberians in August 2005. His great grandmother is Blackwater's Ruby SD, the same dog who is Taka and Skye's grandmother. His claim to “fame” is that Curly (actually Northstar's Alaskan Boomer) in the movie Iron Will is his grandfather! Fen is a big, loving and exuberant dog who loves to play and is eager to please. In his first season as a yearling, Fen wasn't sure that running in a harness attached to a line with other dogs moving in tandem was such a great idea; he ran, but only to please us. However, this was a big deal that he ran to please us because the reason he was hesitant was that he had had a collision with the ATV while free running with the team as a puppy and so was coping with some fear.

To his credit, he overcame that fear, and in his second season he joined in the camaraderie inherent to teamwork and began to run with his heart ... and run and run and run; he has a gorgeous lope and we have yet to see him truly tired! He has settled into a solid team dog, although his few forays into the lead position have been successful and so with his steady lope that sets a great pace, we hope that he may have a future as a lead dog!
